Welcome to 1st Upholland Scout Group

Officially we’re the 51st Ormskirk (1st Upholland) Scout Group

We’re the only uniformed young people’s organisation in Upholland Village now. Others have closed in recent years and we’ve expanded to take up the challenge. We’re one of 23 Scout Groups in the Ormskirk District.

We focus youth shaped Scouting. The programme varies throughout the seasons and from year to year. You can expect to enjoy at least one residential activity during the year-maybe many more.

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. We develop teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, and communication skills with self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even, maybe change their and our world.

We’ve got highly qualified volunteer leaders and offer exceptional activities including, hill-walking, climbing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, air rifle shooting and archery. And we’re probably the only inland group in England running regular sea kayak trips and expeditions.

We’ve supported young people on multiple foreign adventures and in 2024 will be helping staff Red Rose ’24, an international Scout gathering based in Westmorland.
